"Resignificar la locura. Una autobiografía en colaboración”: New article by Martín Correa-Urquiza
New article by Martín Correa-Urquiza, published by Disparidades: "Resignificar la locura. Una autobiografía en colaboración".
This article is in part an autobiography written in collaboration. It has its origin in the life history of Dolors, active member and participant of the Nikosia collective in the city of Barcelona. Nikosia is one of the first stations made by people with psychiatric itineraries; a communication and political experience that challenges the medical and social ways of meaning so-called madness by creating networks of care, shelter and shelter in spaces and practices that are articulated beyond the traditional services of mental health care. The story of Dolors can be understood here as an opening to the possibility of re-historicing and re-signifying his life experience initially associated with the diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. His testimony based on four in-depth interviews reveals the social evidence of the afflictions, contributes to the problem of the impact of psychiatric categories linked to psychic suffering and opens a reflective field from which the personal experience lived can be understood as a matrix of other meanings that allow to recognize and unravel the complex multidimensionality of these sufferings.
