Bio: She is a social and cultural historian, professor at the University of Copenhagen, who has focused her research on the history of modern Europe and its global connections, the history of war and violence, and the history of the "psy" sciences. She obtained her PhD in modern European history from Columbia in 2012 and, before joining ENGEROM in August 2020, worked at several universities in the UK and the USA. She has authored two monographs Therapeutic Fascism: Experiencing the Violence of the Nazi New Order (OUP 2017) and Non- aligned Psychiatry in the Cold War ( Palgrave Macmillan 2022), and is currently completing the third, Schizophrenia, 'primitivism' and modernity: Reimagining the twentieth century. Her research interests revolve around the relationship between psychiatry, politics and violence, as well as the decolonization of psychiatric practices and concepts in the second half of the 20th century. She has been the recipient of grants and fellowships from ERC, Novo Nordisk, British Academy, Wellcome Trust and DNRF. I currently direct a DNRF Centre for Culture and Mind. Her research has received several awards, including the Dan David Prize in 2023. She was appointed a Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Studies), Germany, for the academic year 2027-2028. Bio:Ismael Apud holds a PhD in Anthropology and Communication from the Rovira i Virgili University, a Master's degree in Scientific Research Methodology from the National University of Lanús (Argentina), a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropological Sciences, both from the University of the Republic (Uruguay). In addition, he is a researcher in the National System of Researchers of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (Uruguay). He is currently an assistant professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of the Republic, where he carries out teaching and research work. In teaching, he teaches courses on research methodology (including ethnographic method and psychometrics), as well as interdisciplinary topics in psychological anthropology, medical anthropology, among others. In research, he carries out activities in two lines of research. The first on psychedelics, as co- coordinator of Arché, an interdisciplinary study group on psychedelics (https://arche.ei.udelar.edu.uy/). The second is about the psychology and anthropology of religious/spiritual practices. Bio: Dominique P. Béhague is a social anthropologist and critical health scholar. She is a full professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Medicine, Health and Society at Vanderbilt University and a Reader in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at King's. College London. He has a BA and MA in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College, a doctorate in social anthropology from McGill University and a master's degree in epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His research in southern Brazil explores the intersection of psychiatric reform, social movements, and the emergence of adolescence as an object of psycho-developmental expertise and life-cycle epidemiology. He co-designed the longitudinal ethnographic substudy of the 1982 Pelotas birth cohort conducted by the Federal University of Pelotas, one of the few interdisciplinary cohort studies taking place in a country in the so-called global south. He has also investigated the politics of evidence-based models of effectiveness in global health decision-making. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation of the United States, the Fulbright Foundation, the WHO, the PAHO, the Economic and Social Research Council of the United Kingdom and the Wellcome Trust. Bio: José Carlos is a Clinical Psychologist and Doctor in Pharmacology. He has developed his scientific activity at the Autonomous University of Madrid, at the Biomedical Research Institute IIB-Sant Pau of Barcelona and at the Hospital de la Mar Medical Research Institute of Barcelona (IMIM). During this time, he developed studies on the therapeutic effects of MDMA ("ecstasy") and psychopharmacological studies on the acute and long-term neuropsychiatric effects of many substances, both of synthetic and plant origin. Since 2012 he has been the Scientific Director of the ICEERS Foundation where he directs and supervises studies on the potential benefits of psychoactive plants, mainly cannabis, ayahuasca and ibogaine, with the aim of improving public health. He is co-author of numerous scientific articles and several books and book chapters. Bio: Doctorate in Social Anthropology from the University of Barcelona (2016) with a thesis resulting from an ethnography developed between 2008 and 2015 with the Kukama-Kukamiria indigenous population of the Lower Marañón, Peru. Research that investigates aquatic cosmology, fishing culture and socio-environmental conflict in the Pacaya National Reserve Samiria and her area of influence. She has collaborated with public institutions and entities in conducting research on topics such as the environment and international cooperation, among other topics such as imprisoned women, and youth. She has carried out research stays at the University of Costa Rica and at two universities in Peru, receiving funding from AECID (Spain) and the CNRS ( France ). In addition to continuing her research on environmental anthropology in the Peruvian Amazon, since 2018 she has initiated a new line of research in Food Anthropology. She is a member of the Consolidated Research Group, Social Anthropology Group of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) since 2017 (SGR 00023). Bio: Alejandro Goldberg is a Social Anthropologist from the University of Buenos Aires, Master in Medical Anthropology and Doctor in Social and Cultural Anthropology, specialized in Medical Anthropology and International Health, from the Rovira i Virgili University. Bio: Seth M. Holmes is a cultural and medical anthropologist whose work focuses broadly on social hierarchies, health inequalities, and the ways in which these asymmetries are naturalized, normalized, and resisted in contexts of transnational immigration, agri-food systems, and health care. Holmes is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, in the areas of Society and Environment, Medical Anthropology, and Public Health. Bio: Maja Kohek , Ph.D. , is a medical anthropologist specializing in the ethnographic and public health dimensions of psychoactive plant practices. She is a Research Coordinator at ICEERS and a member of the Medical Anthropology Research Center (MARC) at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain). Her work integrates ethnography, critical public health analysis, and drug policy research to examine how ritualized practices with ancestral medicines such as ayahuasca , cannabis , and ibogaine shape health, well-being, and community practices in diverse cultural contexts. She has co-authored several epidemiological studies of long-term ayahuasca users , using health indicators and psychosocial measures to assess well-being and lifestyle outcomes in Europe. She has also led ethnographic research on ritualized cannabis use in a self-managed community in Catalonia, highlighting forms of social regulation, harm reduction, and community spirituality as alternatives to prohibitionist approaches. Her anthropological work also addresses the globalization of ayahuasca practices , exploring issues of authenticity, self-care, intercultural exchange, and the role of ancestral medicines in adaptive medical and spiritual systems. She has also published on the experiential dimensions of less studied ancestral medicines such as ibogaine, as well as on the epistemological challenges of emerging psychedelic science, reflecting a broader commitment to situating non-ordinary states of consciousness and ancestral medicine practices in their social, cultural, and health contexts. Specialist in ethnographic methodology, qualitative research applied to health and analysis of the narrative of illness. She has worked extensively on the subject of the experience and management of chronic diseases (chronicity) and related areas such as disability, dependency, public policies and global health. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the project Anthropology and Phenomenology of the Locked -In Syndrome in the Department of Anthropology, Philosophy and Social Work of the Rovira i Virgili University (DAFiTS -URV) and member of the Medical Anthropology Research Center (MARC-URV). She is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona (UB) and at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). Bio: Dr. Morals holds a medical degree from the University of Santiago de Chile and a master's degree in Social Anthropology from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology, in Mexico City. He is currently a doctoral student in Anthropology and Communication at the Rovira i Virgili University, where he is developing the research entitled Towards a political anthropology of mental health. She is an adjunct professor at the UFR - School of Social Work of the University of Barcelona and a researcher in the Social Work Research and Innovation Group (GRITS), the Food Research Team in Vulnerable Contexts and the Sabers Migrants team , all of them from the UFR - School of Social Work of the University of Barcelona. Bio: Asun Pié Balaguer has a PhD in Pedagogy from the University of Barcelona and a Diploma in Social Education from the Ramon Llull University. She is a professor/researcher in the Psychology and Educational Sciences Department at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). She is a member of the CareNet Research Group. Care and Preparedness in the Network Society (IN3-UOC). Her research career focuses on feminist disability studies. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Antioquia (Colombia), the Autonomous University of Mexico, the National Pedagogical University-Hidalgo (Pachuca , Mexico ), and the Austral University of Chile, among others. She has co-directed the research project Collaborative Medication Management: a research and participatory action project in mental health (URV-UOC). RecerCaixa 2016. Bio: Aura Roig Forteza is a social and cultural anthropologist with a Master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Law Sociology . She is currently pursuing her PhD in Medical Anthropology. She is currently working on her PhD in Medical Anthropology. She is the founding director of Metzineres, the first non-profit cooperative dedicated to developing shelter environments for women and people of diverse genders who use drugs and survive violence and multiple situations of vulnerability. International advisor on drug policies, harm reduction and gender perspectives. She combines research with the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of drug policies and services in the USA, Canada, Colombia and Costa Rica and throughout Europe. Bio: Anna Sendra Toset holds a degree in Journalism (2013), a master's degree in Strategic Communication in the Risk Society (2014) and a doctorate in Anthropology and Communication (2019), all from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Immediately after graduating, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa (2019-2020) and then moved to Finland to continue her career, where she currently works as a project manager at Tampere University. Her research focuses on studying digitalization processes from different perspectives, especially in the context of healthcare. She is co-author of the book Healthcare and Patient Communication in the Digital Era: A Patienthood and Patient Perspective (2026). He is also a member of InfUSE , a research group affiliated with the Tampere University Research Center for Communication Sciences . Bio: Mercedes Serrano Miguel (Zaragoza 1976) has a PhD in Anthropology from the Rovira i Virgili University. She has a Diploma in Social Work from the University of Zaragoza and a Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Barcelona. She has a Master's degree in Psychiatric Social Workers from the University of Zaragoza and a Master's degree in Medical Anthropology from the Rovira i Virgili University. She has worked as a social worker in different care and rehabilitation services of the Public Mental Health Network of Catalonia. She is currently a lecturer in the Social Work Degree at the University of Barcelona. As a researcher she has carried out different stays in Brazil being granted a scholarship by the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She has also collaborated with the " Saúde mental, álcool i outras drogues" team of the State Health Secretariat of RS working on the project "Guia de Gestão autónoma da Medication " (GAM Guide).
