Performing Brains on Screen, new book by Fernando Vidal
The book Performing Brains on Screen, by the researcher Fernando Vidal, will be published by the Amsterdam University Express publishing house next April.
The text, made up of seven chapters, deals with the cinematographic representation of the belief that the human being is, essentially, his brain. The analysis emerges from two points of view. The first places the brain as the protagonist of the story, it is responsible for the events that occur. In the second, the brain, as an omniscient character, conditions the story through events such as the transplant of the organ or the manipulation and transfer of the knowledge housed by it through technology.
Fernando Vidal is Research Professor at ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) at the Center for Research in Medical Anthropology, Rovira i Virgili University, Tarragona, Spain.
